Don’t call for technology to be applied to remove insecurities | Guardian Nigeria News

A university lecturer has called on the federal government to redouble efforts to eradicate insecurity in the country.

These were presented at a three-day international conference organized by Michgray Consults in partnership with TBU Global Outreach, USA at Lagos State University (LASU).

At the conference on the theme “Insecurity and Global Stability”, Convenor, Prof. Biodun Akinpelu said that the motivation for bringing technocrats and lecturers to various fields is to study the root causes of insecurity and its collateral effects on the state, human society, especially Nigeria, and to provide lasting solutions for peaceful cooperative existence, justice and sustainable security.

He noted that the government must ensure that new strategies are added to deal with insecurity in the best interest of the country and its people.

“Our refusal to apply technology to combat this insecurity is very clear,” Akinpelu said. “The situation is really tense every day, and even the government cannot guarantee its own safety.”

He also observed that the level of insecurity greatly contributed to the rate at which many Nigerians left the country, believing that their lives were not secure in their home country.

However, Akinpelu urged the federal government to tackle the high youth unemployment rate to stop them from becoming tools in the devil’s work.

“If we’re creating infrastructure for young people without jobs, what does the future look like? So I think we need wisdom and hopefully the government will be brave enough to act,” he said.

In her closing remarks, Pasida Gouba, Burkina Faso’s ambassador to Nigeria, commended the organizers and the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) for having the necessary discussion on insecurity and its impact on world stability.
