Tifton Middle School students win across the board at Future Business Leaders Conference

Tifton, Ga. (WALB) – Students at Eighth Street Middle School in Tifton participated in a winning business while also learning more about business through the Future Business Leaders of America National Leadership (FBLA) conference.

Fifty-seven students participated in twenty-four different competitions. Among them, there are 22 in the first place, 15 in the second, 10 in the third, 5 in the fourth, and 6 in the fifth.

The students are led by the teacher Ms. Laurel Mullen. The skills they learn will help them become better employees, better students, better communicators and better team members, she said. Students say their teachers take a hands-on approach and are always helpful during the practice sessions.

“Mullen, she’s always there for people, she’s really kind and friendly, and she knows how to deal with it,” the students said.

FBLA brings business and education together to help students gain leadership skills and professional development. Students learn confidence building, public speaking, business marketing, and even some math skills. These skills are then used to compete against other students around Georgia.

Now, the students are preparing for the state competition in February.
